I’ll be at  San Diego Comic Con, July 23-27.

I’ll be set up in Artist Alley, table #ii-02

On Wednesday night, after Preview Night, I will be a guest at Gabe Eltaeb’s Comic Kickoff Fundraiser where I’ll be doing a limited number of commissioned sketches to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

I’ll be appearing on Marvel’s livestream on Thursday at 6pm at the Marvel Comics booth.

I'll be signing at the Marvel booth on Friday, July 25th, at 11am.

I will be on the Marvel Unlimited panel. Sunday, July 27th, 10am at the Bayfront Hilton.

Here are my current convention commission sketch prices/options and how it works for me during the weekend.

I will most likely be taking a sketch list instead of drawing each commission as each person waits in line. So hit my table early to make sure you get on the list, it fills up fast! I plan to do a new list for each day.

Convention Commission specs (single character):

  • Head shot black and white on 7″x10″ (roughly) art board, sketch cover, or personal sketchbook: $40
  • Head shot grayscale Copic markers on 7″x10″ (roughly) art board, sketch cover, or personal sketchbook: $60
  • Head shot color Copic markers on 7″x10″ (roughly) art board, sketch cover, or personal sketchbook: $80
  • Half figure black and white on 9″x12″ art board, sketch cover, or personal sketchbook: $100
  • Half figure grayscale Copic markers on 9″x12″ art board, sketch cover, or personal sketchbook: $140
  • Half figure color Copic markers on 9″x12″ art board, sketch cover, or personal sketchbook: $180

I’ll also have my Volume 1 Sketchbook, art prints and some original art/commissions for sale.
I hope this info helps. There is a possibility info could be updated or changed between now and the convention, so stay tuned to my social networks or subscribe to my the RSS feed for possible updates.

Can you give me some tips on drawing eyes. I've noticed the trapezoidal shape of them. Can you tell me more?

You're best bet is search for some "how to draw eyes" tutorials. I'll try to see if I can work something like that into one of my YouTube vids someday: youtube.com/toddnauck

Hey Todd.  I met you at heroescon last year and you had said that you scan your art boards with pencil and print on another art board for inking.  What type of printer/ scanner do you use of you don't mind my asking?

I use the Epson Artisan 1430 for printing. My scanner is a really old one. I can't recall the brand at this time. But they probably don't make it anymore.

Learn how to draw figures, bulidings and backgrounds in perspective and sequential art (or panel-to-panel) storytelling.
Look into the book "How to Draw Comics The Marvel Way". That's a good place to start for the basics.
Your art is nice. A great start. Keep practicing and keep having fun!
